Welcome to Troop 555, The Triple Nickel!

Troop 555 was established in September of 2012. It was the vision of a group of scouts who were looking for a more challenging scouting experience than they were getting. They wanted a truly boy-led troop with a focus on service, scout skills, backpacking and adventure. The adults in the troop see their roles as mentors, counselors and facilitators, helping the scouts to plan activities and advance in rank. As a troop, we encourage both scouts and adults to take advantage of the many training opportunities available in scouting.

Troop 555 meets most Sundays from 6:00pm until 7:30pm at the Trinity Presbyterian Church, 1452 W. Southlake Blvd, Southlake, TX 76092 (directly across from Carroll Senior High School). We usually don't hold meetings on the weekends we have campouts. Please refer to the Upcoming Events list to the right if you are interested in specific meeting dates or troop activities.

Recharter and Troop Dues Must Be Paid by December 1st

Posted on Dec 1 2019 - 2:41pm

We will collect troop dues through December 1st.  Troop sues will need to be increased from $125 per year to $150.  At the parent meeting last month, we discussed that BSA national was planning to increase registration fees, but we did not know the amount of the increase at that time.  I did not anticipate that the increased registration fee would necessitate an increase in troop dues.

Posted on Nov 29 2019 - 3:42pm

We are offering the three Citizenship merit badges in December and January.  Each class will be approximately 1.5 hours and will be held at Trinity Presbyterian Church prior to our regular troop meeting.  Below is the schedule for the three classes:

I know it is a bit early to plan for January, but it is time again to sign up for the Brazos Valley Merit Badge College.

Final Sea Base Payments due January 15th!

Posted on Nov 29 2019 - 3:26pm

Troop 555 has reserved a boat for the Key West Sailing Adventure at BSA's Sea Base high adventure camp in the Florida Keys for July 12 - 18.  This week-long adventure will involve living on a boat and include lots of aquatic activities.  This Sea Base crew is limited to only 6 scouts.  We currently have all those spots filled.  Any scouts who sign up after the first 6 have made deposits, will be put on a waiting list.  If we have enough interest, then we will consider booking a second boat.

News from the Parent Meeting

Posted on Oct 30 2019 - 10:29pm
In December, I sent an email regarding an article in the news that BSA was considering bankruptcy in the wake of sexual abuse and harassment lawsuits.  On October 20th, a representative of the Longhorn Council's Ambassador Program, visited our troop to share the news that BSA would be filing for Chapter 11 reorganization in the coming months.  We do not know the specific date that action will be filed.

How do I make payments online?

Posted on Aug 27 2019 - 12:38pm

To make an online payment, go to the troop website home page and look in the right hand column.  Click on the event for which you need to pay under Event Registration in the right hand column, or find the event on the Calendar on the day the event occurs. That will take you to the registration page where you can register both youth and adults and make payments.  There is a a convenience fee if you pay online to cover the credit card processing fee for online payments.
